Michael J. Graham is a Google Apps for Education Certified Trainer and the Assistant Principal of Westside High School in Jonesboro,

Arkansas. In this role he manages and develops technology related professional development that improves instruction for teachers at his

When I look at a group that shows my profile, it shows location and bio information that I can't seem to change anywhere.  When I go to manage

my account that information is not there and I can't change or delete it.  I think the profile app has changed and now the old information is not

available to be edited.

And there is no help forum for profiles!

The Old Group Profile is no longer available as of  7/1/2011

As of 07/01/2011, Groups profiles have been disabled. Your profile information will be available for export from your profile

http://groups.google.com/groups/profile until 11/01/2011. This change will not affect the nicknames you might have chosen for yourself to

participate in groups. It will only affect the custom profiles fields, such as your photo, location, and occupation. More details are available here.

so just to clarify, if someone looks at the group using the old google groups they will see my current profile with outdated information and there is

no way to change that?

The old Google group profile is read only now and can not be edit now.  but if you used the new google group format you will be able to link to

your Google Profile.

Can I point out that by linking your Google Profile to your Groups account, it doesn't stop other users who are still using the old Groups UI from

seeing your old profile.

This is very frustrating.

I signed up for Groups a long time ago, using fake profile details because I just wanted to test out the system before committing. I only used

Groups briefly at that time, then forgot about it and have been inactive, until recently when I was invited to join a new group by a colleague. When

I join that group, my old profile information (which is incorrect and juvenile) is visible to other members of the group and I am unable to edit it.

Switching to the new Groups UI and linking to my Google Profile is effective at revealing my correct profile details only to myself and other users

who switch to the new Groups, which is not everyone.

I am thus unable to use Groups. Unacceptable.

I agree, this is outrageous. Since when does Google "lock in" your information like facebook??? I have 3-year outdated google information for

anyone on an old google group. The merging to the new account does nothing. What's wrong with Google?
